DONEP M FORTE Tablet 15's is a medication that combines the drugs Donepezil and Memantine, which are both acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and NMDA receptor antagonists, respectively. It is used to treat Alzheimer's disease-related dementia (Alzheimer's type dementia) in individuals who have previously received donepezil alone. Alzheimer's type dementia is a form of brain disease in which the dementia (abnormalities in thinking, memory, and behaviour) are brought on by the ageing of memory-carrying brain cells. Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor donepezil is used. It works by raising the amounts of acetylcholine, a substance that transmits messages between nerve cells in the brain. An antagonist of the NMDA receptor is memantine.
