EPTOIN ER 300MG TABLET contains phenytoin, a medication from the class of drugs known as anti-epileptic drugs. During or after brain surgery or severe head trauma, it is used to treat some types of epilepsy (fits or seizures). A minimum of two unprovoked seizures, with or without fits (strong, involuntary contractions of the voluntary muscles), separated by at least 24 hours, are required to diagnose epilepsy. An electroencephalogram (EEG) can be used to detect changes in electrical activity, which are indicative of a seizure, which is caused by an excessive discharge of particular nerve cells.
